2024-2025 JLNO Membership Request Form

Thank you for your interest in joining the Junior League of New Orleans! Any woman who meets the eligibility requirements and demonstrates an interest in and commitment to voluntarism, regardless of race, religion, or national or ethnic origin, may join the 2024-2025 New Member class.

Membership Requests for the New Member year to start June 1, 2024 must be submitted by May 31, 2024.

Eligibility

1. Be at least 23 years old as of May 31, 2024.

2. Reside in the New Orleans area (within a 45-mile radius of JLNO Headquarters located at 4319 Carondelet Street). Attendance at a New Orleans school by an out-of-town student does not constitute such residence. Please note that prospective members are no longer required to have lived in the area for a full year before joining JLNO.

3. Possess an interest in voluntarism, a commitment to community service, and an interest in developing her potential as a volunteer and leader.

4. Be able to fulfill the New Member requirements, which are briefly outlined below.

5. Have access to an email account in order to receive JLNO communication.

New Member Requirements

I accept the invitation to become a New Member in the Junior League of New Orleans (JLNO) and agree to assume the responsibilities and fulfill the requirements for the New Member year as set forth in the following:

I understand that New Members who complete all mandatory requirements and abide by JLNO’s governance documents, bylaws, policies, and procedures will attain Active status.

1. Financial

Dues are a necessary component to a member-based organization like JLNO. Details on how to submit dues are available on the Membership Dues Invoice.

i. 2024-2025 Membership Dues: The 2024-2025 Membership Dues of $225.00 plus a one-time New Member Fee of $50.00, for a total of $275.00 is due May 31, 2024.

ii. Money to Mission: Each New Member will donate at least $100.00 to JLNO between June 1, 2024 and May 31, 2025. This includes but is not limited to diapers, period products, or financial contributions to campaigns, fundraiser ticket purchases, or sponsorships.

iii. 2025-2026 Membership Dues: The 2025-2026 Membership Renewal of $225.00 is due March 1, 2025.

2. Volunteer Opportunities

New Members will have the opportunity to serve JLNO’s community in a way that meets their interest levels and schedules. New Members volunteer for 25 credits. All Volunteer Credits must be completed by May 31, 2025.

While New Members will not have an internal JLNO Placement, each New Member must select one Placement for the 2025-2026 League year. JLNO is a nonprofit organization that is volunteer led and staff supported. Internal League placements are of critical importance as they enable JLNO to operate and serve members and the community.

3. Training Opportunities

JLNO has established a set of training sessions that will acclimate New Members to being an involved volunteer and effective leader. All training opportunities must be completed by May 31, 2025.

i. New Member Training: Each New Member will complete the following:

a) JL 101 Welcome Event (Summer 2024)
b) Quarterly (Fall, Winter, and Spring) training that introduces New Members to the mission, vision, and work of the League

ii. Training Credits: Each New Member must attend a minimum of four Training Credits, which may include General Membership Meetings, throughout the League year.

4. Volunteer and Training Opportunity Credit
To receive credit for attending volunteer or training opportunities, each New Member must do the following:

Sign up using the Volunteer Opportunity or Training Opportunity tools in the Members Area of www.jlno.org.
Arrive on time and ready to participate.
Sign the Roster if it is a shift run by a JLNO Committee or complete a Volunteer Credit Completion Form and send a copy to info@jlno.org.
Attend the entirety of the scheduled opportunity and follow instructions of the Committee representative or staff.

Within two weeks, completed credit will appear under the member’s Obligations in JLNO’s website.

5. Missed Volunteer Opportunity
New Members will be able to cancel up to five days before the start of the community service opportunity. If a New Member is unable to attend an event for which she is scheduled and does not cancel at least five days prior to the scheduled event, she must:

Email newmember@jlno.org to let them know she is unable to attend; and
Attempt to find another New Member to take her volunteer opportunity

6. Members’ Website (Digital Cheetah)
JLNO will assign each New Member a username and password to access the protected area of its website (www.jlno.org). The initial password will be a temporary one, and JLNO advises members to choose strong passwords and protect their login information from unauthorized individuals.

Throughout their service, JLNO members will use the Members’ Website (Digital Cheetah) as a resource for information on the organization, including member directory, documents, training, and calendar. It is also the location where they sign-up to attend events and volunteer opportunities and complete requested forms. Members can regularly check their personal Obligations area to track the year’s requirements.

7. Photo Release
I agree to give JLNO permission to use and reuse, in any matter or medium and for any purpose or promotional or publicity use, without limitation, any photographs taken during League events of myself and any dependents accompanying me or in which I or they are included with others. JLNO will only use photos thoughtfully and with the best intentions.

8. New Member Extension
I understand that if I am current in all of my Financial Requirements and anticipate an inability to complete the New Member Curriculum that I may request a one year extension of my New Member Agreement. JLNO will permit an extension, and the full New Member course must be completed the following year. Alternately, a New Member may resign in good standing at any time prior to March 1, 2025.

I understand that completion of all of the above requirements is mandatory for acceptance to Active membership. Failure to meet the above requirements may necessitate repeating the New Member Curriculum in its entirety. Active membership shall be conferred in June of 2025 upon successful completion of the New Member Curriculum.

I understand the purpose, philosophy and privileges of the Junior League of New Orleans. I also understand the requirements, obligations and commitments that are required for membership.
